PROACT EU-Response project partners will attend the International Clinical Trials Methodology Conference 2026, a platform to present and discuss innovation in clinical trials methodology.

During the conference, project partners will present a poster titled ‘EU-SyndAct, An Adaptive Umbrella Platform Protocol with Built-In Pandemic Pivot Capability’. EU-SyndAct (European Syndromic Adaptive Clinical Trial) is a large European clinical study testing new treatments for adults who are admitted to hospital with viral respiratory infections, such as influenza or COVID-19.

The study is designed to evaluate several potential treatments at the same time and can quickly adapt as new evidence emerges. If a new pandemic occurs, the trial can rapidly switch into pandemic mode to test treatments as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Tonton Mutamba Kayembe and Inge Christoffer Olsen (Oslo University Hospital) will present the poster during the conference. The event will also be attended by partners from the University of Basel and the University of Galway.

The conference will be held from 14 to 17 September 2026 in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
